As the Surface Designer/Illustrator at KidKraft®, I played a significant role in bringing the My Super Groovy Dollhouse to life. This retro-inspired playset features bright colors, funky patterns, and groovy furnishings for 12" dolls. My role involved creating the initial sketches for the surface pattern design and illustrations for the dollhouse, as well as creating color palettes and mood boards for the furniture and fabrics.
I was also responsible for creating the packaging design for the My Super Groovy Dollhouse, which included layout design, logo design in English and French, photography art direction, and all production work. The packaging design reflects the dollhouse’s aesthetic and showcases its features in an appealing way.
Furthermore, I worked closely with my teammates at KidKraft® throughout the entire process, from initial concepts to final production. We used various skills and programs, such as sketching, Adobe Illustrator, repeat patterning, color theory, Adobe Photoshop, and packaging design. I also played a crucial role in the project’s creative direction, which involved determining the color direction, artwork style, photography direction, and packaging style.
As the Surface Designer/Illustrator for the My Super Groovy Dollhouse at KidKraft®, my role involved preparing the production files for manufacturing. These files needed to be highly accurate and detailed, as they were sent to Asia for manufacturing. I meticulously created vector-based files in a clean, layered format with color and material callouts. I also collaborated with Rebecca Rawle, who provided accurate final drawings. This attention to detail ensured that the final product met our exact specifications and matched our high-quality standards.
