As the Senior Design/Illustrator at Kidkraft®, my design role was to create original surface artwork for the Country Chateau Dollhouse, an enormous house with 8 rooms and a garage, including color for furniture and fabrics as well as artwork on the furniture. I took a unique creative direction in the design of the surface art, as it is an integral part of the product and sets the overall aesthetic of the dollhouse.
To begin the process, I started with mood boards that included various color palettes, as well as sketching ideas. Using Adobe Illustrator, I created the surface art in vector format with a soft watercolor style that was high resolution and easily adjustable due to the vector technology.
Working closely with my teammates at Kidkraft®, we collaborated in brainstorming concepts, mock-ups, and final production. In addition, I was responsible for creating the production files with all the necessary details, including color callouts, materials, and 1-to-1 art with accurately aligned artwork for Asia. We also created product sample mock-ups with large format printers.
