I had the pleasure of collaborating with Emily Dixon, an accomplished industrial designer, for the Wildflower! Art Guitar Program and Auction. Together, we designed a stunning stand-up bass to be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefitting local fine arts education in Richardson, Texas.

Emily and I worked hand-in-hand to bring the bass to life, starting with the initial concept and design. I provided rough sketches and created the vector lines for Emily to cut the designs with while she handled the structural design using the software Solidworks, ensuring everything fit together perfectly. She even incorporated my vision of a rockabilly-style woman into the bass head design.

Emily hand-cut all the shapes with an inexpensive band saw, using my graphic template as a guide. Once the construction was complete, the bass was brought to me for the finishing touches.

The bass is a true work of art, featuring a stunning combination of spray paint, airbrush paint, and acrylics. Inlaid wood veneer on the sides and sheet metal construction adds a unique touch to the piece. And to top it all off, we used trimmer cord to string the bass, creating a one-of-a-kind instrument that truly stands out.

I've had the pleasure of working on many guitar projects over the years, but this stand-up bass is undoubtedly one of my proudest achievements.
